SEVERIN at Violet Noise... Spring Fling
Sun 17th Feb 2013
SEVERIN's Elizabeth Anne Martin co-organised the Violet Noise Spring Fling to promote women in music and raise money for local womens charities. Packed to the rafters, the night concluded with a joint DJ set between SEVERIN and Brazilian riot grrrl legend Jana Silva.
Elizabeth also hand made the posters, the 20 copies of which all got stolen on the night by souvenir hunters ha:

Ooops, I'm slightly late in posting this but you know when you become creatively POSSESSED and just spend hours and days working out minute variations on your synth and can't stop writing lyrics until you get them EXACTLY as they are in your head.... no? Just me? OK, well that is what I have been doing over Christmas and the early part of the New Year. Working on what will be SEVERIN's debut album which is coming along very nicely and is planned for release later this year.
As you all know SEVERIN had a rather epic and life changing 2012.... We released our first EP 'Everything Breaks' on Tip Top Recordings, were called 'Inspirational' by XFM, one half of us co-organised LadyfestEASTLondon and co-founded new female music club night Violet Noise while the other half co-founded new electronic night NEU NOIR. We also soundtracked the short film 'Madryn', joined the roster of music publisher Rainbird Music, gigged in Berlin and all across the UK and watched a film crew in Avenida Paulista , Sao Paulo, Brazil create the breathtaking video for our single 'Macabea'.
.... So... the purpose of this post is to say thank you to everyone who was part of our journey last year and to let you know that we will have lots of exciting announcements to make over the coming months so keep checking back.
And in the meantime, check out these 'Ones to Watch' lists from Soundsphere and Louder than War which include SEVERIN and also an interesting article from Louder than War about the re-emergence of Industrial music which also mentions us:
